The capital city of Hanoi on April 26 inaugurated first two flyovers made of steel beams aimed at easing traffic congestion, especially at peak hours.
The two projects, one at Lang Ha-Thai Ha intersection and the other at Chua Boc-Tay Son intersection, were completed in just three months at a total cost of VND133 billion.
The two bridges are designed to allow only motorcycles and four-to-seven seater cars to run at a speed of less than 25km per hour.
Busses, 9-seater sedans, coaches, and trucks, as well as pedestrians and cyclists are not allowed to use the flyovers.
At the inauguration ceremony, Hanoi Mayor Nguyen The Thao said the construction of the two flyovers is one of the city’s solutions for reducing traffic congestion and ensuring traffic safety for road users.
Hanoi is building other steel beam flyovers at a number of intersections such as Lang-Le Van Luong, and Lang-Tran Duy Hung.
