Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made this statement while attending the launching of the plan by the Ministry of Construction and the Hanoi Municipal People's Committee on July 29.

The PM praised the efforts of the Ministry of Construction, Hanoi city and other agencies relevant to the plan's creation and completion, adding that the development plan would boost public services, education, healthcare, and urban architecture, as well as raise people's living standards.

PM Dung also asked the Ministry of Construction to formulate detailed plans to create favourable conditions for attracting investors.

On behalf of the city's authorities, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen The Thao said the new Hanoi Master Plan was very significant for the capital, as well as for the country's socio-economic development. It is also considered the legal basis to manage and build the capital city into a national political, administrative, cultural, educational, scientific and technological centre. It will also make Hanoi a major centre for economics, trade, tourism and services in the Asia-Pacific region.

The National Planning Exhibition Palace in Me Tri commune, Tu Liem district, Hanoi, was also officially opened at the launch, displaying drawings and models of the master plan.
