HANOI - The Ministry of Transport plans to open to traffic Cau Gie- Ninh Binh Expressway and part of the Belt Road No.3 linking Thanh Xuan and North Linh Dam by the end of this month.
Vu Xuan Hoa, director of the Thang Long Project Management Unit, said apart from the Thanh Xuan-North Linh Dam section set for opening on June 30, the construction pace of the remaining section for Belt Road No. 3 is ahead of schedule and they are expected to open to traffic by the year-end. This is the overhead highway linking Mai Dich and North Linh Dam stretching 8,91km, which is a four-lane expressway with the speed limit of 100km/h.
The project requires total investment capital of VND5.55 trillion financed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the state budget.
Thanks to effective capital allocation from JICA and the central government, the project is now running ahead of schedule. Moreover, it requires no site clearance, according to the Government’s website www.chinhphu.vn .
Although the tender package is finished five months ahead of schedule, construction quality is guaranteed, said Hiroaki Mukaichi, consultant and inspection manager of the project.
The presence of this highway aims to ease traffic congestion between Linh Dam and Thanh Xuan.
Besides, the first phase of Cau Gie- Ninh Binh highway stretching 50km will open to traffic at the same time.
As of now, major construction works have been completed, according to a representative of the Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) as the contractor. The company is making greater effort to hasten the construction tempo of remaining works, preparing the ground for the upcoming opening.
The expressway is designed to allow vehicles to run at 100-120 km/h with six lanes.
