The Municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism officially opened “Hanoi Tourism Day” on January 1, 2012.
This is one of the activities to welcome the New Year in the capital city, including the “Rendezvous of Streets and Flowers” festival.
This year, in addition to promoting culture and tourism in the capital, the “Rendezvous of Streets and Flowers” festival is also advertising heritage tourism with the participation of many localities across the country. The event is the beginning of the 2012 National Tourism Year “Heritage Tourism”.
The same day, Hanoi signed a tourism cooperation programme with ten provinces and cities nationwide, namely Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Lao Cai, Lang Son, Ninh Binh, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Da Nang, Can Tho and HCM City.
The deputy director of the Municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Mai Tien Dung said that the ongoing flower festival is focused on promoting tourism through the floral displays and introducing the country's tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
The festival lasts through January 2.
