Nhan Dan – Hanoi T&T played out a 1-1 draw with Kienlongbank Kien Giang in their round 14 game at Rach Gia stadium, Kien Giang province, on Saturday to reclaim the top position in the V-League Eximbank 2012 with a total of 24 points.
After wasting several chances to net the ball, striker Gonzalo managed to put Hanoi T&T ahead 1-0 with a cunning header from a corner kick in the 15th minute.
The visitors’ lead, however, did not last long as Kienlongbank answered just a few minutes before the break. Giovanni took advantage of a lapse in the T&T defensive line to equalise the score with a beautiful volley in the 36th minute.
No more goals were scored during the remainder of the match despite concerted efforts from both sides.
Hanoi T&T earned an additional point with this draw to temporarily dominate the V-League standings with 24 points, a one-point lead over second place SHB Da Nang, which had to put off its battle against Song Lam Nghe An due to health reasons.
In other Saturday games, Hanoi FC recorded an impressive 4-1 victory over Becamex Binh Duong on their home field while 2011 National Cup winners Navibank Saigon were held to a goalless draw by Hoang Anh Gia Lai at Thong Nhat stadium.
Khatoco Khanh Hoa and Thanh Hoa beat TDCS Dong Thap and XM The Vissai Ninh Binh, respectively, by the same score of 1-0 on Sunday. Meanwhile, Saigon FC marked a strong return after two consecutive losses, by edging Vincem Hai Phong 3-2 at Lach Tray stadium the same day.
With this loss, Vincem Hai Phong failed to improve their ranking and continue to sit at the bottom of the standings with just seven points.
