Witnesses said they heard a big bang and saw the car on fire.
The police soon arrived, trying to put out the flame but the car was burned down quickly and only its frame remained.
Huong was taken to nearby Hospital of Transport.
In the hospital’s emergency room, Huong, who was in panic, said she was a teacher at An Dong Secondary school and was driving to school at the moment.
As she was driving on National Road 5, she was told by people on the street that there was fire on the back of her car, near the petrol tank.
Huong quickly drove to the sidewalk to get out. However, the car door was stuck and she couldn’t get out.
The fire quickly spread to the driver’s seat. Huong grabbed a door handle and kicked the door.
She dashed out on the street in panic and her hair was partially burned.
According to Huong, she filled up the petrol tank last Thursday at a gas station on National Road 5 behind the Temple of Martyrs in Hong Bang District.
The car was bought in 2009 at Son Lam Car Salon on Nguyen Van Ninh Street in Le Chan District.
According to a mechanic, Huong’s car might be produced 10 years ago and belonged to a model whose windows and door are blocked automatically when driving at 40km/h.
The police are investigating the causes of the fire.
