VGP - Hồ Chí Minh City is estimated to make a GDP of VND 514,635 billion this year, growing 10.3% over last year, according to a report of the municipal People’s Committee.
According to the report presented at the municipal People’s Council meeting that opened on December 6, the city’s service sector is estimated to account for 53% of GDP, up 10.8%; industry and construction sector, 46% of GDP, up 9.9%; and agriculture, 1% of GDP, up 5%.
The city has so far this year financially assisted poor people to the tune of over VND 62 billion. Its poverty reduction fund is helping 36,780 poor families with more than VND 194 billion.
Hồ Chí Minh City is striving to post a GDP growth rate of at least 10%, 1.5 times higher than the country’s rate, and a GDP per capita of some US $3,600 next year.
