(VOV) - Ho Chi Minh City on October 11 granted relief aid worth nearly VND11.9 billion to localities that have recently been hit by floods and tropical storms.
Eight Mekong Delta provinces that were hardest stricken by recent storms received VND6.7 billion in total, while northern and central provinces were given VND300 million each. The Central Highland provinces of Kon Tum and Lam Dong were granted VND300 million each.
HCM City also sent a delegation to visit and present gifts to flood and storm victims in Dong Thap, Vinh Long and Long An provinces.
The same day, the city launched a one-month charity programme to mobilize funds for victims of natural disasters. On the first day of the programme, approximately VND5.19 billion was raised from 21 organizations and individuals.
