The Ho Chi Minh City Red Cross Association and the Asian Commercial Bank (ACB) presented gifts to 1,500 children from orphanage villages and centres for homeless children in Ho Chi Minh City on January 27, 2011.
At the event, the children joined a painting contest, decorated pictures of yellow apricot blossom and watched cultural shows.
Each child received a present worth VND250,000 and VND50,000 of lucky money.
This was part of an annual social activity held nationwide to help disadvantaged children enjoy the Traditional Lunar New Year Festival.
The volunteers also visited and presented gifts to elderly people and disadvantaged households.
In 2010 the ACB took part in many charity programmes including free heart surgeries for children, eye surgeries for blind people, building houses and schools in the areas hit by natural disasters, providing medical check-ups and free medicine for people in the remote and mountainous regions.
