In the first quarter in 2011, Ho Chi Minh City had 1,300 more one- to four-star hotel rooms, including 628 one-star rooms, and 220 two- to four-star rooms.
The one-star hotels are now the largest grouping, according to the Hotel Office of the City’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The City now has 836 hotels with 25,360 rooms, including 596 one-star hotels with 9,676 rooms, the same number of rooms for three- to five-star hotels, 167 two-star hotels with more than 6,000 rooms, and 13 five-star hotels with 4,220 rooms.
In this quarter, there will be two new four-star hotels, bringing the number of the four-star hotels in the city to 13.
The city has received about 900,000 foreign visitors in the first quarter of this year, up by 6% against last year.
