The Deputy PM made the request at a meeting held by the Ministry of Public Security in Hanoi yesterday to review the Guard Ordinance.
After seven years of adhering to the Guard Ordinance (2005-2012), positive results have been recorded. Division awareness of its important role in the current situation has been raised, and its force and organisation have been well improved to meet all tasks assigned by the Party, State and public security sector.
Speaking at the event, Deputy PM Phuc highly praised the guard force for ensuring the absolute safety of Party and State leaders, domestic delegations and foreign guests, in addition to providing security for international conferences, national celebrations and other important political, economic, social and cultural events.
He noted that the new domestic and international context now requires the guard force to continue renovating operational methods and improving the quality and efficiency of its work.
He also asked the unit and other related agencies and departments to consider the limitations and inadequacies in the execution of the Guard Ordinance, to clarify the aspects which need to be amended and supplemented, and to lift the ordinance into Guard Law to further strengthen the quality and effectiveness of the force’s activities.
