VGP – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung approved the vocational training development strategy in the 2011-2020 period in a bid to raise the rate of trained workers by 40% to 23.5 million by 2015 and by 50% to 34.4 million by 2020.
By 2015, Vietnam expects to have 190 vocational colleges, including 25 high-quality ones and 300 intermediate vocational schools.
The figures are expected to increase to 230 and 310 by 2020.
To fulfill the targets, the strategy touches upon nine groups of solutions, including renovating state management on vocational training and formulating a set of standards on national vocational training.
Especially, the combination between vocational training and the labor market will be encouraged under the strategy to make sure that the output of vocational training meets demand of employers.
Enterprises are responsible for providing information on job demands (recruitment number, education levels, physical requirements and other skills) as well as regulations (salaries, environment, working conditions and welfare) for vocational schools.
