This is the first time there an award has been given to high-quality, well designed domestic products that are highly appreciated by customers, said head of the award’s organising board Associate Professor, Dr. Le Xuan Dinh, Editor-in-Chief of the Economics and Forecast Magazine.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, which was broadcast live on VTV2, Dr. Dinh said the event was held in response to the national programme for ‘Enhancing productivity and product quality of Vietnamese enterprises until 2020’ as approved by the Prime Minister under Decision No. 712/QĐ-TTg, dated May 21, 2010 and the Politburo's ‘Vietnamese People Prioritise Vietnamese Goods’ campaign.
He added that the award aims to help the business community improve the quality and design of their products to match consumer tastes and support the development of enterprise trademarks to improve their competitive capacity and create a strong foothold for Vietnamese products in international markets.
The 44 award winners were selected from more than 300 outstanding brand names in a variety of fields including fashion, cosmetics, jewellery, garments, consumer goods, home appliances, high-tech products and engineering.
In addition to high quality and good design, the winning products were also chosen for their usefulness and application of scientific and technological advances.
Among those honoured at the event were products from prestigious brands including Alcado Fashion, Viet Tien Garment Company, Ltd, Binh Minh Garment JSC, Bao Tin Minh Chau Jewelry Company, Phu Nhuan Jewelry JSC, Thien Long Group Corporation, SUFAT Vietnam Corporation, CMS Computers, and the Viglacera Corporation.
An exhibition showcasing the 44 winning products and designs is being held at the Exhibition House, No. 93 Dinh Tien Hoang Street, Hanoi from April 14-17.
