The Golden Dragon award for excellent performance for year 2010 was given to eighty foreign firms from various sectors of business.
The award which recognizes excellent performance in businesses in diverse fields such as finance, banking, real estate, services, construction and the automobile industry was given in a ceremony in Hanoi on January 23.
Globally established brands like Samsung, ANZ, Ferroli Indochina, Ford, Mercedes-Benz and Coca-Cola were honoured. In all, eighty foreign enterprises were awarded for their excellence in performance and services to consumers.
The finance, banking and insurance sector had a remarkable 15 awardees, followed by real estate and services sector with 13. Other awards went to businesses involved in construction and building materials, the automobile industry, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, electronics and education.
Statistics from the Ministry of Planning and Investment show last year’s FDI capital to be 25.8% of the total investment capital and exports by foreign-investment enterprises exceeded US$38.8 billion, accounting for 53.1% of the country's total export turnover.
The Golden Dragon award is presented annually by the Ministry of Planning and Investment's Foreign Investment Agency and Vietnam Economic Times. It aims to honour the contributions made by foreign enterprises towards the Vietnamese economy. This is the 10th consecutive year the awards have been held in Vietnam.
