The program is meant to select the most popular shirts, which will then be mass produced and sold to raise money. It is easy to participate in the contest, which is organized by Helping Hand Saigon -- a group of Vietnamese, overseas Vietnamese and expats united together to give help to disadvantaged people in Vietnam.
The designs should look cool, funky and creative so that people of all ages and nationalities will be happy to wear them.
The group is now running the program via their Facebook page at http://www.helpinghandsg.org/, where people are asked to post their designs. Once designs are posted, they will ask all their friends to ‘like’ the designs, and the examples with the most ‘likes’ will go through to the final.
The two-week contest is currently running and will end on Sunday, July 8.
With its motto ‘making a difference where the difference is felt’, Helping Hand Saigon is motivated to find new ways to raise funds through a social enterprise project, instead of relying on donations by sponsors.
Their first social enterprise project is this design contest, which will produce a range of T-shirts to sell and generate income. The group is seeking a production partnership with GINKGO, a T-shirt company with shops all over the country.
The sale of these T-shirts will help the organization raise funds and create ongoing revenue to support varying future projects.
All of the profits generated from the venture will go towards Helping Hand Saigon projects.
