Germany supports EUR50,000 for Vietnamese schools

Nhan Dan Online – Germany has provided a total of EUR50,000 for six schools in the central province of Nghe An to help them buy new teaching facilities.

The funding is part of the German Government’s programme aimed at improving living conditions for rural residents in Vietnam.

In 2011, the German embassy in Hanoi co-operated with the Nghe An Department of Education and Training to implement the project in six local schools. The money was used to buy new furnishings including tables, chairs, desks and file cabinets.

Some schools also had their walls re-painted and playgrounds paved with concrete.

Headmaster of Hau Thanh School, Nguyen Dang Khoi, said his pupils are quite delighted with the new facilities and seem to be more interested in their classes.

Over the past years, Germany has implemented various projects to improve the quality of schools, orphanages and health care centres for the elderly in several provinces including Quang Tri, Ha Giang, Thai Binh, Bac Ninh, Hoa Binh and Bac Giang.
