PANO – Senior Lieutenant-General Nguyen Thanh Cung, Vietnamese Deputy Defence Minister, received Mr. Hans Christian Friedrich Schmidt, the Parliamentary State Secretary of the German Federal Ministry of Defence, on the occasion of his working visit to Vietnam on June 6th in Hanoi.
PANO – Senior Lieutenant-General Nguyen Thanh Cung, Vietnamese Deputy Defence Minister, received Mr. Hans Christian Friedrich Schmidt, the Parliamentary State Secretary of the German Federal Ministry of Defence, on the occasion of his working visit to Vietnam on June 6 th in Hanoi.
At the working session, the Vietnamese General and Mr. Schmidt discussed current situations in the world and defence cooperation of the two countries over the past time.

General Cung said that the relations of the two countries in economy, trade, defence and security, investment, culture and education have been promoted. Especially, the two Governments announced the upgrade of their relationship to strategic partnership level.
Mr. Cung also suggested that the two countries should promote exchanges of high–ranking military delegations, cooperation in training and education and defence industry as well as in overcoming war consequences in Vietnam.
“Good cooperation in the above areas will pave the way for further development of the two Defence Ministries,” General Cung added.
Mr. Schmidt also agreed with the host and pledged that Germany will try its best to help Vietnam in education and training and defence industry.
“Implementing the UXO Program in Vietnam is necessary. Germany is willing to share experiences and new technologies in demining with Vietnam” said Mr. Schmidt.
