The Hanoitimes - Germany has provided 140,000 EUR for restoring and preserving Ta Vu house inside Hue royal palace in the central province of Thua Thien – Hue from now until 2013.
Phan Thanh Hai, Director of the Hue Relics Preservation Centre said on May 29 that the project is part of activities to mark the centre’s 30 th anniversary on June 10.
As the fourth project under the German-funded assistance programme for Hue , it will be jointly carried out by the German Conservation, Restoration and Education Project (GCREP) and the German Society for Preservation of Cultural Heritage (GEKE).
Earlier, the programme helped restore Khai Tuong Lau – An Dinh palace, Tu Duc King’s tomb and Toi Linh Tu in Hue royal palace.
Built in the early 19 th century and restored in 1899, Ta Vu house was the resting place for civil mandarins before their audience with the King, and also the place for royal examinations and banquets.
It was badly damaged in wartime. once completed, it will showcase part of the Nguyen dynasty’s history and is expected to serve as a new tourism attraction. VNS |
