German experts share experience in waste treatment

VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnamese and German experts gathered in Hanoi on April 26 to share experience in human resource training and waste treatment in Vietnam.

German experts suggested that Vietnam should develop a “waste economy”, explaining waste is not scrap, but is valuable material which can be used to make products of high economic value.

They introduced waste treatment processes and advanced technologies being applied in Germany.

Jochen Sembler, the Director of the HS Company which specialises in waste treatment in Germany, said that Vietnam is wasting this resource, and that his company is building cooperative programmes with Vietnamese localities to help train human resources and transfer technologies in the field.

He said his company wants to help Vietnam reduce pollution and improve the living environment in urban areas.

The company will set up a group of experts to deal with waste at some universities, including Hanoi University and Hanoi University of Agriculture, and sign contracts with some partners to form a waste treatment and recycling system in Hanoi.

In May, the Vietnam-Germany Cooperation Programme will conduct a training course on waste management and treatment for Vietnamese officials and businesses.
