The Hanoitimes - The 8th East Asia and Pacific Regional Meeting of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM) kick-started in Hanoi. The meeting will seek solutions to existing problems regarding financial management, bidding management, supervision and management of financial risks facing on-going projects. Regional representatives will share what they learnt from the implementation of projects sponsored by the Global Fund. As a recipient country, Vietnam pledged to fully comply with the regulations set by the Global Fund in a bid to effectively utilize the aid, said Deputy Health Minister Nguyen Thi Xuyen. It has been reported that since 2002 the Global Fund has committed to providing over US $405 million in aid for Vietnam to tackle the three of the world's most devastating diseases. ATP |
