“The widespread devastation has made what was once the iconic garden city of Christchurch, and gateway to our beautiful South Island, desperately in need of our enormous financial assistance,” Warwick Cleine, Chairman of the NZ Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam said in an email to announce the event.

The cost of entry will be VND300,000/person, with selected drinks at a discounted rate. The Caravelle Hotel has kindly agreed to donate all proceeds from such drink sales to the Vietnam Christchurch Earthquake Appeal. There will also be a live auction, raffle, and donation buckets. The event will run till 8.30.

“There have been widespread offers of support and assistance from within the New Zealand community in Vietnam, as well as from our global neighbors,” Cleine said.

For the charity auction, there is a signed 2010 Wallabies jumper that has been donated by the Australian Rugby Union to the fundraiser.

The Sydney Swans AFL Club has donated two signed jerseys that the local Vietnam Swans footy club organized to bring over. One jumper has been signed by Sydney’s 2011 team. The second jumper has been specially signed by Sydney Swans Coach John Longmire and Captains Adam Goodes and Jarrad McVeigh.

If you would like to donate a raffle prize/auction item, contact John Gardner, the General Manager of the Caravelle Hotel (ph 38234999; gm@caravellehotel.vnn.vn).

There will be more opportunities to donate to help rebuild Christchurch when the New Zealand Wine and Food Festival on Saturday holds a collection, raffles and auctions.
