The Hanoitimes - The children’s choir from the Paris National Opera Orchestra will give two performances at the Hanoi Opera House on April 18 and 19.

Twelve primary artists and 65 choir members will perform the two-part opera L’Enfant et les Sortilèges (The Child and the Spells), composed by Maurice Ravel and conducted by Gaël Darchen, together with 450 children aged from 7 to 16.

The opera is about a 7-year-old boy who is scolded by his mother and vents his anger, when suddenly all the objects and creatures around him come alive.

‘The Child and the Spells’, Ravel’s second and final opera after ‘The Spanish Hour’ in 1907, was written between 1919 and 1925, in collaboration with the French writer Colette.

The opera has been performed in over 30 countries around the world.
