VGP – Local and international tourists will be exempted from paying fees for visiting Hạ Long Bay from January 23 to February 5, 2012, according to the Decision 173/QĐ-UBND issued by the Quảng Ninh Provincial People’s Committee on January 20.
The move is part of Quảng Ninh’s effort to pay tribute to all Vietnamese people and international friends for their support for Hạ Long Bay to become one of the new seven wonders of the world.
Located in the northeastern part of the country and constitutes part of the western bank of Tonkin Gulf, Hạ Long Bay has twice been recognized by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage Area for its exceptional scenic beauty in 1994 and outstanding geological and geomorphic values in 2000.
It is an excellent example of a Karst landscape created by a complex chain during millions of years of geological movement.
