France would continue to help Viet Nam in training cultural and art officials and to welcome Vietnamese art students studying in France, affirmed French Minister of Culture and Communication, Frederic Mitterrand.
Mitterrand made the affirmation during his talks with Vietnamese Minister of Culture, Sport and Tourism, Hoang Tuan Anh in France on Friday.
The French minister proposed that Viet Nam set up a steering committee to organise Viet Nam Year in France and France Year in Viet Nam on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the two countries diplomatic ties (1973-2013).
He suggested the two countries sign a co-operation agreement on film production in which France would help Viet Nam develop its movie industry. France would provide funding to Viet Nam through its Southern Movie Fund and help the nation to take part in international film festivals, he said.
The minister also said France was willing to share its experiences with Viet Nam in the fields of preservation and museum operations.
He affirmed France was willing to present Viet Nam with copies of valuable images and documentaries of Viet Nam from 1895 to 1954 which are now kept at the French National Audio-visual Institute.
In addition, France would support Viet Nam's bid to have the ancient citadel of the Ho Dynasty listed as a world cultural heritage site, continue assisting in the organisation of festivals in the ancient imperial city of Hue and send artists to join special programmes to mark the 100th anniversary of the Ha Noi Opera House scheduled for November this year, Mitterrand said.
For his part, Anh highlighted diversified and effective cultural exchanges between the two countries, particularly France's role in organising the Hue festivals.
"Viet Nam always considers France a key partner in cultural and art human resource training," said Anh who also expressed his thanks to the French Government for its aid of 1.4 million EUR(US$2 million) to Viet Nam's cultural integration.
Anh told a Vietnam News Agency correspondent in France that the results and agreements reached during the visit opened a new page in co-operation between Viet Nam and France. — VNS
