France will continue to help Vietnam in training cultural and art officials and welcome Vietnamese art students to study in France, affirmed Minister of Culture and Communication Frederic Mitterrand.
Minister Mitterrand made the affirmation during his talks with his Vietnamese Minister of Culture, Sport and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh in France on May 6.
The French minister proposed Vietnam soon set up a steering committee to organise the Vietnam Year in France and the France Year in Vietnam on the occasion of the 40 th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.
He suggested the two countries sign a cooperation agreement on film production in which France will help Vietnam develop its movie industry. France will provide funding to Vietnam through its Southern Movie Fund and help the nation to take part in international film festivals, he said.
The Minister also said France is willing to share its experiences with Vietnam in the fields of preservation and museum operation.
He affirmed France is willing to present Vietnam with copies of valuable images and documentary of Vietnam from 1895 to 1954 which are now kept at the French National Audiovisual Institute.
In addition, France will support Vietnam’s bid to have the ancient citadel of the Ho Dynasty listed as the world’s cultural heritage, continue assisting the organisation of the festivals in the ancient imperial city of Hue and send artists to join special programmes to mark the 100 th anniversary of the Hanoi Opera House scheduled in November this year, minister Mitterrand said.
For his part, Minister Anh highlighted diversified and effective cultural exchanges between the two countries, particularly France ’s role in organising the Hue festivals.
Vietnam always considers France a key partner in cultural and art human resource training, said Anh, expressing his thank to the French Government for its aid of 1.4 million EUR to Vietnam’s cultural integration policy.
Minister Anh told a Vietnam News Agency correspondent in France that the results and agreements reached during the visit have opened a new page in the Vietnam-France cooperation./.
