The Ministry of Public Security has temporarily detained Bui Quoc Anh, deputy director of the Vietnam National Shipping Lines (Vinalines) for alleged embezzlement.

Police have also arrested Anh's accomplices including Do Thi Bich Thuy, former deputy director of the East Sea Transportation Co Ltd, Hoang Gia Hiep, former director of the Vietnam Shipbuilding Finance Company, and Ngo Van Nhuan, deputy head auditor of the National Audit Office Region 7.

The accused are suspected of faking invoices worth billions of dong in the purchase of a ship from the East Sea Transportation Company.

Phnom Penh hospital project to finish in 2013

After two years of construction, Cho Ray hospital in Phnom Penh, Cambodia plans to open in March next year. Total capital for the project is US$20 million, part of which came from Cho Ray Hospital in HCM City.

Covering an area of five ha, the hospital will have 200 beds in the first stage and then increase to 500 beds.

No fees during Ha Long Bay Tourism Week

The northern province of Quang Ninh said it would not collect tourism fees for Ha Long Bay sites from April 28 – May 1. The move was done to welcome visitors during Ha Long Bay Tourism Week and thank them for their support to vote for Ha Long Bay as one of the newest seven wonders in the world.
