The People’s Committee of the central province of Quang Tri said on November 1 st that it had started a project to improve poor children’s living standards with a total capital of USD 4 million.
The monetary assistance, coming from Plan International, will be spent during the 2011-2015 period.
Under the scheme, programs and activities will be carried out to contribute to increasing the living standards for children, families and communities in the four districts of Dakrong, Huong Hoa, Gio Linh and Vinh Linh.
The activities will focus on the healthcare and education of children, sustainable economic development, the prevention and mitigation of natural disasters, plans to increase the availability of safe water and environmental hygiene awareness. Paramount is the protection of children and the increase of living standards for the communities.
