(CPV) - On March 7 th , the poet Huu Thinh, chairman of Vietnam Writers Association, announced that a Vietnam-US literature forum will be held in the former imperial city of Hue on March 9.
The event aims to mark the 20 th anniversary of bilateral ties between the Vietnam Writers Association and the William Joiner Center for the Study of War and Social Consequence.
A number of poets and writers from Vietnam and the US will assess the translation and introduction of Vietnamese literature to US readers over the past two decades and discuss cooperation in introducing the two countries’ literature in the future.
Chairman of the Vietnam Writers Association, poet Huu Thinh said the forum is an impressive exchange for not only war veteran writers, but also young writers.
In the past 20 years, the William Joiner Center for the Study of War and Social Consequence has cooperated with the Vietnam Writers Association to translate and present various works by Vietnamese writers to US readers.
The poet Kevin Bowen said the centre has also helped bring 100 Vietnamese writers, artists and cultural researchers to the US to promote Vietnam’s image in peace to the American people.
On this occasion, the Vietnam Writers Association Publishing House will translate and launch a collection of poems from US poets on Vietnam’s culture and war.
The forum will take place over two days, March 9-10, in Hue city./.
