Forty international art troupes from 29 countries have registered to perform in Hue Festival 2010 under the theme Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development, Sai Gon Giai Phong reports.

The festival to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi will open at Ngo Mon Square on June 5 and end on the Huong River on June 13.

The focal point of this year’s festival will be the charming Dai Noi (Royal Palace) in the evenings with many interesting royal banquets and games. An Dinh Forbidden Palace and many other sites in Hue City, rural areas, parks and tourist spots will attract visitors with original art performances, folk games and food streets.

In addition to art programs of 29 countries and territories emphasizing their cultural events, the festival will illustrate unique royal festivities of the Te Giao Ritual, the Royal Night and the Discovery of the Huong (Perfume) River’s Legend.

To mark Lord Nguyen Phuc Lan’s choice of Hue as the country’s former imperial city, the organizers will stage a special program called Journey to Reclaim the Southern Land and Military Maneuver in the Nguyen Phuc Lan Period.
