Foreigner beats up local man after causing traffic accident in HCMC

A foreigner involved in a traffic accident beat up a local resident who tried to prevent him from fleeing the scene in Ho Chi Minh City’s Le Dai Hanh Street on April 28.

According to witnesses, the foreigner hit a local woman, Nguyen Thi Thuy, from behind as they were driving motorbikes, causing both of them to fall.

A passer-by, Le Duy Vuong, said he requested the foreigner to apologize to and compensate Thuy for damage caused after seeing the man attempt to get away, VietNamNet reported.

However, the foreigner punched Vuong in his face and even chased after him.

Many xe om drivers and cabbies then stopped the foreign man. Vuong was taken to the hospital for treatment as he was bleeding from one of his his eyelids.

HCMC traffic police officers arrived at the scene soon after, but refused to divulge the foreigner’s identity.
