VietNamNet Bridge – The government has given permission to the resort city of Da Lat to hire foreign consulters to develop its development planning to 2030 and the vision to 2050.
According to the proposal of the local government and the Ministry of Construction, the future city will be expanded to the surrounding districts of Lac Duong, Don Duong, Duc Trong and part of Lam Ha district. The city’s area will be over 3,300sq.km.
The government has approved Da Lat’s general development planning based on the following goals: being a modern and environmentally friendly city, an ecological city, the political, economic and social hub of Lam Dong province, a centre of scientific-technological training and research and a technological transferring center of the country.
Da Lat is located 1,500 m (4,900 ft) above sea level on the Langbiang Plateau in the southern parts of the Central Highlands. Da Lat is a popular tourist destination.
Da Lat’s specific sights are pine wood with twisting roads and tree marigold blossom in the winter. The city’s temperate weather stands in contrast to Vietnam’s otherwise tropical climate. Mist covering the valleys almost year-round leads to its name “City of eternal spring.” Phuong Lan
