A large number of flowers and bonsais of different kinds are being transported from Ben Tre and Dong Thap Provinces to Ho Chi Minh City to meet demands of the urban dwellers during the coming Tet holiday.
Many of them are apricot blossom trees, one of the favorites in the South during the Tet festival. According to Tran Van Hung, a gardener in Cai Mon District, Ben Tre Province, flower growers in the province are enjoying a good crop.
Having sold more than 400 pots of apricot blossom, Hung said that flowers are more beautiful than last year’s thanks to fine weather, and prices of these flowers and plants are up by 10% compared to the same period last year.
In particular, many kinds of fruit trees, such as rose-apple trees, grapefruit trees, mango trees, and new flowers with different colours are also put on sale, with some of the bonsais imported for sale in HCMC.
