The water levels on the province’s three rivers - Tra Bong, Tra Khuc and Ve - reached alarming level on Sunday afternoon.
Provincial authorities have required relevant agencies to relocate river-side residents to safer places, with traffic police being assigned to flooded spots on the national highway to prevent all vehicles from the dangerous sites.
According to the Central Hydrometeorology Forecast Center, heavy rains will continue to appear in the central region in the next three days, with floods rising on rivers in Quang Ngai, Quang Nam, Gia Lai and Kon Tum.
The center also warned against flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas and severe flooding in lowlands.
