A local person was killed, one remains missing and six others were injured after flash floods caused by torrential rains hit Bac Me mountain district on June 22-23.
The floods severely damaged 42 houses, submerged hundreds of hectares of rice and subsidiary crops, and washed away a bridge in Na Phia village.
Torrential rains triggered rocks and soil to fall down, cutting Lac Nong and Giang Trung communes off Bac Me district centre.
Thousands of cubic metres of rocks and mud blocked traffic on national highways 34 and 4C and on the Minh Ngoc-Mau Due 34 route.
Provincial authorities rushed to the scene to help with rescue work and clean-up efforts.
