Five more golds for Vietnam at SEA Games 25

Vietnam won five more gold medals on December 13, ranking second on the medal tally at the ongoing Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 25) in Laos. The first gold medal of the day was snagged by a group of three Wushu athletes: Nguyen Huy Thanh, Tran Duc Trong and Tran Xuan Hiep in the men’s team Taolu (performance) event. The silver medal went to Singapore while Thailand took bronze. In the women’s team weapon demonstration event, Vu Tra My and Vu Thuy Linh won a silver medal. The national shooting team bagged two more gold medals for Vietnam in the air rifle event. The first gold medal went to Ngo Huu Vuong, Nguyen Van Tung and Do Duc Hung in the men’s 10 metre air rifle team. Vuong also snagged the second gold medal in the individual event with 560 points, while Tung and Hung won silver and bronze medals with 559 and 555 points, respectively. In the women’s single shuttlecock final, Trinh Thi Nga vanquished her Thai rival, Jindamon, to win a gold medal. The last gold medal for Vietnam on December 13 went to athlete Vu Thi Huong who spectacularly surpassed her Thai opponent to hit the finish line of the women’s 100 metre track and field competition after 11.34 second, breaking her national record of 11.43 second. In total, Vietnam has taken 25 gold, 23 silver and 27 bronze medals after five days of competition at SEA Games 25. The same day, the national women’s football team defeated Laos 3-0 to play Thailand in the final match on December 16.
