Five airlines have registered to open new air routes or resume closed routes to Vietnam by the end of this year, said the Vietnam Aviation Administration.

Apart from these five airlines, including Air Hongkong (China); Jeju Air (Republic of Korea); Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudi Arabia); United Airlines (the USA) and Air China Cargo (China), 48 airlines are currently operating air routes to Vietnam.

The Administration also revealed that there will be more international airlines seeking their opportunities in Vietnam market. Silk Air from Singapore is willing to operate flights to Ha Noi along with the current flight to Da Nang City.

Figures from the Administration revealed that around 5 million people, accounting for approximately five sixths of arrivals to Vietnam, traveled to Vietnam by air in 2011, an increase of 135 per cent compared to 2010.
