Five cities contribute VND394,000 billion to State budget

Ho Chi Minh City takes the lead among five centrally governed municipalities.

This figure was released yesterday at a conference to review socio-economic development of these five cities in 2011.

Among the five municipalities, Ho Chi Minh City took the lead in development indicators, ahead of Da Nang and the capital Hanoi.

Average economic growth rate of the cities in 2011 reached 11.82%, which was much higher than the national average of 5.89%.

They also exported commodities worth a total of US$35 billion, accounting for 36.5% of 2011 national export revenues.

Speaking at the conference, Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan praised the cities’ achievements in 2011 and urged them to continue with their plans to realise their socio-economic targets for 2012.
