The first Flamboyant Festival will be held in Haiphong City on June 9 and 10.
The highlight of the festival will be the gala ‘Red Flamboyant’ at the city opera’s square with participation of hundreds of artists, promoting culture, images as well as tourism in Haiphong City. The festival also includes a series of activities such as a photo and painting contest, a Flamboyant Trade and Tourism Day; road shows and lion dance shows.
Calligrapher Le Thien Ly’s work ‘Phuong’ (Flamboyant) will feature at the festival. Local officials said that the cultural event is aimed to honor the flower that is the symbol of the city as well as to educate the city’s traditions to local people and to promote tourism.
In addition, the festival is also seen as an opening to the National Tourism Year 2013, which will be held in the city next year.
