Film Week introduces the best of Danish cinema to Vietnam

Nhan Dan – A Danish Film Week is taking place in Ho Chi Minh City from December 1-6 and in Hanoi from December 2-7, organised by the Danish embassy in Vietnam to celebrate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Denmark and Vietnam (1971-2011).

The film ‘In a Better World’ by director Susanne Bier (2010), winner of the 2011 Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, was screened in both cities during the event’s opening ceremonies.

The event also introduces other outstanding Danish films, including ‘Pelle the Conqueror’ by Bille August (1987), ‘Five Obstructions’ by Lars von Trier and Jorgen Leth (2003), ‘The Candidate’ by Kasper Barfoed (2008), ‘What No One Knows’ by Soren Kragh-Jacobsen (2008) and ‘The Apple and the Worm’ by Anders Morgenthaler (2009).

During the week, Danish director Jorgen Leth will meet and talk with cinema lovers and exchange experiences with Vietnamese filmmakers.
