(VOV) - The 2012 Southern Fruit Festival was opened in Ho Chi Minh City on June 1, aiming to honour farmers’ high quality products.
Thai fruit festival to take place in Hanoi Ben Tre Coconut Festival opens Seventy parade floats displayed many kinds of southern fruits such as durian, plum, peach, mangosteen, and dragon fruit.
The festival also introduced to visitors a special collection of 300 fruits in record-setting displays.
A “safe and delicious fruit” contest and other interesting activities were also held, encouraging farmers to apply advanced technology to create new, high yield strains.
This is an opportunity for Vietnam to promote the reputable trademarks of its southern fruit, said La Quoc Khanh, Deputy Director of the HCMC Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The festival, jointly heldby the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, will last 3 weeks until June 23.
