The incident occurred at 2 am Saturday at 191 Luong Ngoc Quyen Street, Thai Nguyen City, devastating the first floor and blowing out the metal folding door.
Many glass windows, advertising panels, and plastic eaves of many houses nearby and on the opposite street were damaged.
Talking with Dan Tri, an official of the provincial police department said many assets on the first floor were destroyed but there were no casualties in the explosion.
Several sanitary workers who were working on the street at that time told police there were no abnormal signs before they heard a loud explosion followed by a cloud of smoke that covered the entire house.
The local police have examined the scene and are investigating the explosion.
Colonel Tuan, who was appointed to the post a few months ago, is well known for taking strong measures to crack down on crimes including drug use and trafficking, prostitution, robberies, and illegal motorbike racing, Dan Tri reported.
Thanks to the chief police’s efforts, the criminal situation in the province has been improving, with the number of crimes greatly reduced compared with a few years ago, the newswire said.
