According to the VFF, in 2011, the fund for the poor received over VND 123 billion, which was used to build houses of unity, give presents to poor families during the lunar New Year (Tet) and presents to Agent Orange victims.

Meanwhile, the program “Noi vong tay lon” (Big Circle of Hands) mobilized over VND 6.328 trillion for the poor. The money was used to build and repair 167,836 houses and give presents to the poor.

Delegates approved VND 3 billion to build houses for poor families in 13 provinces and VND 750 million to build 50 houses for elderly poor people in the first assistance phase in 2012.

Members of the VFF and the mobilization board for the day for the poor agreed that in 2012 they would continue to work with the mass media to publicize the campaign for the poor, encouraging practical activities to help the poor stabilize their lives and escape poverty.

The mobilization board also plans to increase the quality of the “Day for the poor” campaign, contributing to ensuring social welfare and sustainable development.

Speaking during the meeting, Huynh Dam, VFF President, said more and more poor families were assisted with housing and production.

He added that the campaign for the poor attracted the participation of all classes of people and the political system, which confirmed the humanitarian characteristics of State policies for the poor./.
