On August 3, the Ministry of Education and Training asked provincial departments of education and training to continue to collect old textbooks.
In May, the ministry sent a mesasage to provincial departments of education and training urging them to collect old textbooks, as well as present new textbooks to children of wounded and fallen soldiers. The older textbooks would then be presented to lower-class students, school libraries and poorer students in disadvantaged areas.
The activity aims to ensure adequate textbook supplies for students before the new school year.
In order to prepare for the new school year, the Vietnam Education Publisher published over 89 million textbooks- 2 million more than in the last school year. However, the price of an average textbook has increased 16.9% this year, making the collection of used textbooks vitally important in ensuring adequate teaching resources for students in the upcoming term.
