The Lot B-O Mon Gas Pipeline project under management of U.S. firm Chevron last Friday clinched an agreement with the National Fund for Vietnamese Children to support underprivileged children from Ca Mau, Kien Giang, Bac Lieu, Hau Giang provinces and Can Tho City.
Under the agreement, the sponsors will provide studying equipment and present scholarships to 800 underprivileged children in the Mekong Delta. Since 2009 the project has handed over scholarships to more than 2,300 needy students in the region worth US$150,000.
Partners in the project are Chevron, PetroVietnam Exploration and Production Corp. (PVEP), Japan’s Mitsui Oil Exploration Co. Ltd. (MOECO) and Thailand’s PTT Exploration and Production Public Co. Ltd. (PTTEP).
The Lot B project specializes in exploiting gas basins offshore to supply input materials to power generation plants in Ca Mau and Can Tho.
