(VOV) - The Vietnamese Embassy in Laos gave an arts performance in Vientiane on January 17 to celebrate the 2012 Lunar New Year festival (Tet).
Among those attending the event were Laos’ Vice President Boungnang Volachit, Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavat, Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongloun Sisoulit, and representatives of Laos’ central ministries and departments.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Ta Minh Chau thanked the Party, Government and people of Laos for their tireless efforts to foster friendship and comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam.
He said 2011 was an important year for Vietnam and Laos when the two countries held their national Party congresses and parliamentary elections.
The stronger Vietnam-Laos relationship of friendship and comprehensive cooperation is a decisive factor behind the success of the revolutionary cause in each country, the diplomat affirmed.
Mr Chau expressed his hopes that this year, both Vietnam and Laos will continue to make important breakthroughs in bilateral ties to celebrate the 50 th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the 35 th anniversary of the signing of Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Cooperation Treaty.
Speaking at the event, Lao Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongloun Sisoulit wished Vietnamese people happiness, prosperity and achievements in all fields in New-Year. Artists performed songs in praise of the Party, the country and the solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.
