Educational innovation programme announced

Nhan Dan – An action programme for the 2011-2016 period will focus on basic and comprehensive innovation in Vietnamese education, according to the Ministry of Education and Training.

The education reform will deploy towards standardisation, modernisation, socialisation, democratisation and international integration.

Major targets established in the program include reforming education management, improving the quality of teachers and education managers, innovating training methods, increasing scientific research, training and technology transfers, intensifying the use of Information Technology applications and training, increasing support for education and training in remote areas and improving the efficiency of international co-operation in education.

The requirements for universal preschool education will be completed by 2015. The country will also aim to deliver two daily classroom sessions to 70% of primary students, 30% of secondary students and 25% of high school students. A key aim of the programme is to increase the number of trained workers to 50% of the country’s labour force by 2015.
