You’d better follow a regime that supplies sufficient carbohydrates, meat and fats. Eat as many vegetables and fruits as you can since almost all vegetables and fruits are good for health. Do not eat or drink anything that is too salty, too sweet or too hot. Fish is much better than meat, and vegetable oils are better than animal fats.
Whole grains, rhizomes and nuts of various kinds have abundant vitamins, minerals and dietary fiber that are essential for human health. Dark-color vegetables and fruits often contain more nutrients and antioxidants than light-color ones do.
Sleep
Studies show that those who sleep less than six hours a day have higher risk of dying before reaching the age of 65 than those who sleep six to eight hours a day. The sleep is indispensable for the development of the brain. A sound sleep will help boost the secretion of essential hormones, which are necessary for children’s growth, reproduction of cells and tissues, and skin health.
An adult needs to sleep at least six hours a day, or seven to eight hours a day on average. It is better to go to bed at 9 or 10 p.m. and get up at 5 or 6 a.m. However, those who sleep more than nine hours a day have higher risk of dying young than those with average daily sleep.
Exercise
Jogging, cycling or swimming everyday or a few times a week is very good for health. Physical exercise helps convey enough blood for the brain and boost the secretion of serotonin, dopamine and endorphin, which are essential for the muscles, the nervous system and human emotions.
Regular exercise can also help reduce the risks of obesity, cardiovascular diseases, strokes, diabetes, high blood pressure and intestinal cancer. It can help relieve joint pain and depression, strengthen the bones and fit the body. It is advised to do physical exercise 30-60 minutes every day.
Live happily
Living a happy life makes one healthier. A happy life is good for the brain and can help maintain the keenness for elderly people, especially those regularly having social exchange and intellectual activities such as reading, writing, playing cards or chess or music, and discussion. Surfing the Internet can also boost the functioning of the brain, particularly for the middle-aged and the elderly.
Remember that “laughter is the best medicine.” Laughing stimulates the secretion of endorphin, which can bring in happy feelings and relieve pain and stress. Laughter can help intensify the immune system, protect the heart, improve blood circulation, and prevent strokes and cardiovascular diseases.
