An international fair for fine art, handicraft and wooden products (EXPO 2011) will be organised from October 5 to 8 at Tan Binh International Exhibition & Convention Centre, Ho Chi Minh City, said the City Ministry of Industry and Trade in a press briefing on September 29.

The annually-held fair is expected to create opportunities for local businesses to meet and exchange international customers in order to intensify exports of Vietnam’s fine art, handicraft and wooden products.
This year’s fair will be attended by nearly 200 businesses with 500 kiosks on display.
In the first eight months of 2011, the country’s export turnover of fine art, handicraft and wooden products reached more than USD 2 billion, a year-on-year increase of 13 percent. The target for the whole year of is USD 4 billion.
Currently, the US and West Europe, the two biggest export markets of Vietnam, are meeting difficulties, thus, the export situation for the rest of the year does not look positive.
