The Hanoitimes - The Electricity of Vietnam group (EVN), officially connected five power lines and stations to the national grid in April. The lines and stations connected included the 220 kV stations in Lao Cai and Hai Duong, the 220kV Hoa Binh – Xuan Mai line, and the 110 kV Van Tri – Dong Anh and Van Dien – Tia lines. The fifth turbine at the Son La hydropower plant also began generating electricity for the national grid. In April, EVN produced 4.39 kWh, over 45%, of the total 9.7 billion kWh of electricity consumed in the country. In the first four months of this year, EVN’s total electricity output was estimated at over 36 billion kWh, an increase of 10% compared to the same period last year, including more than 14.66 billion kWh of electricity produced in Vietnam. EVN also started construction on the 220 kV Uyen Hung substation, raised the capacity of the 220kV Phu Ly substation, and began a project to supply power to populations without electricity in Lai Chau province.
