(VOV) - A European Commission (EC)-funded project has helped 824 street children establish stable lives and 579 others to return to their families and go to school.
The figures were released at a meeting in Haiphong City on April 26 to review the results of the project after three years of implementation.
The VND50 billion project has been carried out in 51 villages in 10 provinces and cities, namely Hanoi, Vinh Phuc, Hung Yen, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Ngai, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, and Ho Chi Minh City.
It has provided vocational training and generated jobs for nearly 2,000 children with stable monthly incomes from VND800,000 to VND2 million. It also offered school fees and learning aid to 7,000 pupils, medicines and healthcare insurance to 6,700 others, and loans to more than 1,000 families to develop their production.
